Who Am I?

My name is Phil and I love music. I know it's cliche to say, but in all honesty, I actually love music. The best way for me to describe it is like a relationship. You see, there are people who simply "like" music, meaning they like the idea of it, and will go after it for a time, but won't actually take it seriously. Love, however, is more than a feeling, it's a commitment. Something you sort of "give your all" to. It feels as though the one person in this world that knows me most, besides my wife, happens to be music. And when I give my all to it, not only does it brings out the best of me, but I also experience the best of it. So this is why I love music. And yes, I am very aware of how weird this may sound.

There are a few different routes to go with music - creating, performing, producing, etc. But for me, creating music is the most fulfilling.

What I Do [with music]

This is my process of creation.
  • Conceptualization I listen, I muse, I discover, I explore, I get lost, then I capture and record what I hear, what I see. It's birthed.
  • Composition I observe it, I tend to it, I see what it can do, I play with it, I study its form, I care for it, I watch it grow, then I gather its elements. It's fashioned.
  • Conduct I orchestrate, I score it, I direct it, I shepherd it, I adorn it, I enjoy it, then I bless it. It's released.
This is how I write my originals and also cover songs. My work will consist of music videos, instrumental music, electronic music, piano albums, cover songs, originals, and even choral music, orchestral and band originals and arrangements. I have experience in all of these forms and they are all equally enjoyable for me. As I continue to write and arrange, I hope to find my specific niche. And you can help me in this with your support! I would love for you to help me in any way you can for me to be able to discover that :)

What is Patreon?

Patreon is a team of creators with a mission to help every creator in the world to achieve a sustainable income. YES, it sounds too good to be true and YES you should definitely check it out for yourself, considering you are an artist/creator too!

Because I write ALL the time and post frequently on SoundCloud and YouTube, I've set it up so that patrons, in this case you, can pledge your choice amount per month. So the total amount I make per month is based on the number of patrons (my audience) and how much each patron chooses to pledge. Like a tip jar. OR like you pay $10 a month for Netflix - you can pay $10 a month for Philip's music! ;)

How This Works

To become a patron, you can pledge any amount that feels right to you per month. You can give $1, or $3, or $10, $20, $100, whatever you choose! Think about this - we generally spend $5 on Starbucks coffee nearly every week, sometimes even everyday! I'm sincerely asking for just a similar amount only once a month. So how about it? Save a coffee, send some love? ;)

Now, let me remind you that this is still only an invitation, and my thoughts and feelings toward you will not change because your worth to me isn't dependent on how much you support me. I love you period. And you might even be a stranger too! I still love you! And I will still be creating regardless!

However, think of the kind of culture this business creates when more people jump on board - creators (you and me) supporting creators (each other)! And we're all doing what we love and making a generous income! Yay! We are living in an age where self-employment is on the rise once again!

I do want to mention 1 of the biggest myths today in music, and that is this: Signing to a label is the ultimate goal. NOT. In fact, my boss is trying to do everything he can to get out of his label. Signing to a label is signing up to losing your freedom and becoming someone else's slave. Not my words, it's my boss's. Nonetheless, I hope this helps you reconsider :)

Where Your Money Goes

As of now, I have 2 jobs that are consuming most of my time. That and being married to my lovely wife, Tay. I'm planning on having a team of people to work with in order to make more music and videos effectively and consistently. Your money will not only contribute to my art, but also to theirs. With your support, I will have more time focusing on what I love to do most, which is to create music.

Nothing means more to me than being able to do what I love and to make a generous income doing it, and especially down the road being able to be a father who works from home and being with his family. My primary goal is to achieve a sustainable income as an artist (Patreon's mission statement) to support my family, and give my children a solid foundation to build upon. I can assure you that each $1 you choose to place in my hands will not go towards waste but for your benefit and also the betterment of this world.

My Hopes and Dreams

So what are my hopes and dreams? Here's what I understand -

Music is powerful. The world wouldn't be much without it. Music has a way of bringing peace, of acting as the mediator and bringing people together. It has the ability to make people smarter and to create things unimaginable. Think of all the natural causes in the world today, the effects of mankind on the earth with global warming, manufacturing, poverty, and so much more. Music has the ability to return a gentle heart inside of someone, who in turn has the power to make a difference. It causes people to rise up. It keeps us in tune with the movement of heaven. Music keeps us moving forward instead of falling back.

I will do everything I can as a musician and artist to keep the world alive and functioning properly. We need new music, and we need good music. And this is what I can promise.

Help me make a positive difference in this world. Thank you :)
