A former student of Edinburgh College of Art (specialising in design), I have worked in various fields of design over the years from product and packaging design to jewellery design. I discovered my love for painting serendipitously through art therapy work. I have maintained much of the freedom of the art therapy approach and so my work is very spontaneous. I explore different techniques, such as mixed media, collage and digital manipulation. I love ambiguity, and the beauty that can come out of pain and adversity.

Working with a therapist who melded eastern and western approaches, the form of art therapy I embarked on over 2 and a half years ago nurtured a freedom of expression that I had never before been able to tap in to. I believe the therapeutic benefits of creating and expressing through art are vast and boundless. I myself suffer from a chronic pain condition (amongst other long term health issues), and have found using art as therapy to be greatly beneficial to my healing journey. I am passionate about encouraging others to find a creative outlet, and believe that we all have more talents and abilities than our restrictive education modal has led most of us to believe.
