Thank you so much for your support! This will help me keep this space going in the long-term. You'll get to read my general posts and also receive a dumpling recipe zine in your inbox by the end of the summer.

Thank you for helping me pay for my bubble tea habit, but also! You'll be able to read longer pieces I share here, including ones that reflect on my day-to-day. VERY EGG-LOOS-IF.

Oh this is a BONUS. Did you know... that I love to paint?? This tier lets you commission a portrait from me, yay! I'll also write you a short character sketch of that person's life. Speculative biography, if you will. Please check back as I adapt this one over time.
About Jane Shi
Thank you for being here.
My name is Jane Shi and I'm a queer Chinese settler currently living on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. My poetry, essays, and reviews have appeared in Canthius, PRISM, Briarpatch Magazine, Room, and The Malahat Review, among others. I am also a community organizer, arts facilitator, and multimedia artist with an interest in film, food, and intergenerational healing. My pronouns are she/her/hers.

This Patreon will mainly be a space to share my writing process, reflect on current events, and offer analysis of contemporary literature and media. My main intention for this space is to hold myself accountable to my craft outside of a traditional publishing setting. It is also an offer of real-time thoughts and fragments I'm more shy about sharing widely. Your support means the world to me and would create more room in my practice to focus on longer-term projects.
Expect reflections on literary criticism and theory, survivorship, diaspora, queerness, mental health, language justice, prison abolition, and disability justice. Expect me to straddle prose and poetry, and some process shots of art I'm making, too!
