Places of Legend takes its listeners to hidden or iconic places where bizarre, mythic, or unexplained historical events have occurred. Our aim is to turn history inside out—to enchant forgotten places and to peel back the legends from places that we’ve all heard about. We tackle oddities and enigmas of American history, in hidden places as well as national historical shrines. With your support we'll be able to expand our stories to other countries and continents where other mysterious historical places await.

Listeners and would-be historical detectives can already explore the “case notes” of each episode, posted on the Places of Legend website—in virtual manila case files including photos, documents, books, and hyperlinks to additional sources of information. Our characters span the gamut from gangsters, explorers, voodoo queens, grifters, and frontier villains and heroes. All the significant places and people mentioned in each episode are pinpointed on an interactive map.

Places of Legend is an expression of our fascination with the surprises that historic places can bring. We do it as a labor of love, not for compensation, but if you have enjoyed any of the episodes, we would be grateful if you would consider becoming a patron so that we can make the podcast even better. Your support for this podcast will help us devote more time to the podcast research, script writing, and production value of the episodes, with new equipment-- and expand the episode contents to include on-site visits, interviews with researchers and witnesses, and more detailed case notes on our website.

In appreciation for their (and hopefully your!) support, Patrons of Places of Legend will receive personal recognition on the website, a monthly newsletter, special "behind the scenes" digital content, and the opportunity to help select upcoming episodes of special interest to you.
