Highshield Book I Has A Cover and Tentative Release Date
The plan is to keep Highshield going almost uninterrupted, but every time there is a major landmark in the story and there are enough chapters, a collected volume will be released.

I'm nearing one of those points now, where a major part of the story is wrapping up and I'm getting ready to move on to an entirely new section, so it's time to get ready for the first release from this venture.

Anyone who contributes $7.00 or more will get Book I for free (you'll actually get a coupon that will lead you to Smashwords where you can download it for free in whatever format you'd like), and it'll be available at most retailers.

It's up on Smashwords already for pre-order here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/729935 so tell your friends!

The first novels I finished writing when I was a teen and in my 20's were all fantasy and supernatural, so it has been fun to return to the genre. I love epic fantasy, so starting a story like this at the very beginning, when the main heroes are children, has been a joy. This is a great sandbox.

Having said that, after the last chapters of this section of Highshield are finished, I'll be taking a break and releasing chapters of Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge on this page instead. After that, Highshield will resume.

Thank you for supporting this serialized novel, I know the readership is small at the moment, about fifty to seventy regular readers, but it's time for me to grow a second series that isn't Science Fiction while I maintain Spinward Fringe, and your support has shown me that I can do it.

Oh, when preordering, please be aware that all dates are subject to change. If a partner (like an editor or ebook formatter), drops out, or more revisions are required, that date can be pushed back. I try to keep that from happening, but there are some things you can't control.

Highshield will continue to be released in its entirety, but the book will contain a more well edited, refined version.

So, what do you think of the cover?
