The Deep Breath: The Chemo Clinic Pharmacist

I had the good fortune when my chemotherapy sessions were winding toward their conclusion to sit down with the pharmacist who had been preparing these concoctions for me over the past 2 1/2+ years. There were questions I had about the process, as well as about what motivated him to choose his profession, and he graciously indulged my curiosity over the course of our discussion.

We spoke about chemo from a clinical perspective as well as raising questions about what it can and cannot do, how it is perceived, the realities of treatment, and how it may fit into a patient's overall plan for care. Additionally, although you cannot see it, we discuss the physical environment for handling these drugs and what is involved with the process of getting them ready for administering them to the patients who are treated at the clinic.
