13 AdventShorts: Interview with Sophie Ballagh and Ewan Blyth. Polar Explorers
Sophie is from New Zealand and Ewan is from Tasmania. They have been exploring around the world for at least a decade. Both are extremely experienced outdoor adventurers and world explorers. Their most recent notable adventure includes a 2 week solo kayaking trip around Antarctica. (Seriously!) We were lucky enough to get them on Skype while they were in Ushuaia, Argentina before hopping back on their commercial tourism vessel to Antarctica. (Please excuse the barking dog in the background! Recording environments were limited.) Sophie and Ewan share their tips and advice about how they create an adventure lifestyle and the sacrifices they've made to live the dream.

For a little more background on them:

Sophie has been designing and implementing outdoor education programmes and expeditions throughout New Zealand and Asia and has professionally instructed in white water kayaking, sea kayaking, rock climbing and off-track navigation.

Ewan has now travelled widely, for work and pleasure, leading expeditions in Vietnam, summiting peaks in Ecuador, undertaking reconnaissance missions for hydropower projects in the wilds of Papua New Guinea, leading extended sea kayaking trips in the rugged South-West of Tasmania to canyon guiding in the Japanese Alps to name but a few of his adventures.

Ewan, like Sophie, has many outdoor skills including but of specific interest is his skill in design of hydropower projects and in the last few years living and working onboard commercial tourism vessels in the polar world.
