Mail Up - Modeling and Texturing with Maya and Photoshop - Art Spotlight, Files and Time Lapse

8 hours art for the fast model production practice, I must accept that the times are not going to be less but the quality every day is more great with every practice. There is a Free Scene File attached to this post.

Mail Up

I'm not sure from where this idea came but, I really like to put rockets in everyday things, usually there is an unusual explanation about my ideas origins (not really this time, I just get fun, is a mailbox with a rocket, why not?), but if something is true, one of the reasons why I chose it for practice was to specifically make the technological elements.

Especially because I want to use these elements or technique for the Tuk Tuk model, and as I commented before, one of my biggest references for technology parts is Cowboy Bebop, I am literally collecting pictures (screens) of parts that I like in each chapter.

For this  practice I use my usual workflow:

1 - Starting with a Sketch that reminds us why I am not a concept artist.

2 - Low Poly mesh as reference and almost final model.

3 - High Poly to project details using xNormal.

4 - Uv Unwrap, nothing special, just patience.

5 - Baking with xNormal.

6 - Extra details on AO and Normal maps previous baked with xNormal using PixaFlux.

7 - Albedo maps using Photoshop.

8 - Gloss, Metalness, Alpha and Emessive with Ptohoshop starting from the Albedo.

9 - Gorgeous render with Marmoset Toolbag.

Let me know what you think and if you have any question about this peculiar mailbox.

Best wishes.
