Season One of our show was out first 18 episodes, released biweekly. We recorded an hour every week, and released long episodes with lots of original content and a sprinkling of spaceflight news.
Season Two of our show was the next 160-ish episodes, released weekly. We started off doing lots of interviews, but the density slowly fell off as we got busier and busier just producing news-based shows.
We're ready to begin Season Three. Here are our goals for Season Three:
- Find a third host. We've been discussing this since we first started the show. It'll give us some breathing room to do deeper research in the middle of conversations, allowing us to bring better facts into each episode. It'll allow Ben to step away from recording sessions to spend more time researching and scheduling interviews and original content. Most importantly, it'll bring some variety into the sound of our show, and we're hoping to better represent the diversity found in the spaceflight industry
- Increase original content and interviews. Did you know our show is cited in the Firefly wikipedia page? That makes us happy. We want to do less article regurgitation and more original fact finding. We like it, you like it, it should be a no-brainer.
- Feature more community members. We're still working this out, but we've got a plan to get more voices on the show, and we think you'll like it. In addition to that, we want to hand our mic off to Patreon supporters when they have interesting stories to tell. We'm not sure how much this bullet will factor into our plans, but it's something we'd like to see. We're also going to see what we can do to increase the number of live listeners every week, from actually announcing recording times to running games and giveaways during the recording.
- Favor content over volume. We're considering dropping back down to a biweekly schedule, if we decide it means we can produce better content. Let us know how you feel about this, because it's far from decided.
We know there's more we can do, and we want to produce the best show we can. Please get in touch if you have ideas!
And please get in touch if you're interested in taking up our new hosting position. This is a labor of love, and we know we're asking a lot. David and Ben don't pay themselves from Patreon funds, and you won't get paid either. You'll also be required to help us write the weekly show and periodic segments. It's a heck of a lot of work, so please don't feel bad if this is interesting but not perfect for you. We will, however, kit you out with recording equipment and make sure you have the tools and the creative voice you need to help us create great content. Anyone is welcome to get in touch, but in particular we're looking for someone who isn't a cis white male like us.
Thanks for reading to the end, and thank you for listening and supporting. You folks are awesome.
