According to a Press Release issued by Public Information Officer Sergeant Keeli L. Hill of the Virginia State Police, a 62 year old man is now in custody and “charged with, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, felony attempt to elude police, two counts of assault on police officers, reckless driving, two counts of misdemeanor obstruction, and littering.”
The press release said, “On September 1, 2018 (Saturday) at approximately 3:20 p.m., Virginia State Police Trooper E. English stopped a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by, Antonio Clatterbuck.”
Clatterbuck is 62 years old and is a resident of King George, Va.
Trooper English was stopping Clatterbuck for speeding.
The release states, “During the traffic stop, Clatterbuck became combative and refused to follow commands, given by both Trooper English and a Sergeant with Colonial Beach P.D., by attempting to return back to the vehicle. Clatterbuck got back in his vehicle and sped away striking Trooper English with the pillar of the SUV.
Residents in the mid-numbered streets of Colonial Beach reported hearing the sirens go by.
The release also reports that “Trooper English initiated pursuit with his emergency lights and siren activated, beginning in the town of Colonial Beach. Clatterbuck refused to stop, with the pursuit continuing out of town on Rt. 205, extending approximately 12 miles until Clatterbuck finally stopped at Route 218 and Route 301 in King George County. Clatterbuck was arrested without further incident.”
A pound of marijuana and a large quantity of cash was seized in the arrest, according to Sgt. Hill and Clatterbuck was charged with, Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, Felony attempt to elude police, two counts of assault on police officers, Reckless driving, two counts of misdemeanor obstruction, and littering.
Mr. Clatterbuck is being held without bond at the Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw.
Virginia State Police would like to extend their appreciation for the assistance provided by Colonial Beach Police Department, Westmoreland County Sheriff's Office, and King George County Sheriff's Office in the apprehension of Clatterbuck.
The incident remains under investigation.
