At approximately 11 p.m. On Thursday Jan 17, 2019 a call came in to the Colonial Beach Police Department to respond to reports of shots fired at a home in the 700 block of Taggart Street in Colonial Beach Virginia.
According to Colonial Beach Police Chief Bruce Hough, when officers responded they discovered several shots had been fired at the residence. Shell casings and bullets in and around the residence were collected by police. The shooting appeared to be a drive-by according to Hough.
Thankfully no one was injured as a result of the shooting.
Hough said at this point the investigation continues. “Interviews were conducted last night by our people, the motive is unknown at this time, so the investigation is continuing.”
To our knowledge there is no continuing danger to the public. “Obviously I can't say for 100 % certainty that this is some type of retaliation or not at this point. I would classify it as isolated.”
The investigation is in the early stages. Hough said although interviews were conducted last night more interviews are expected. Evidence has been sent to the lab for analysis.
The shooting comes hours after the Tri-County Drug Task Force arrested nine suspects during Operation Winter Heat.
