According to Colonial Beach Police Chief Bruce Hough, at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday evening February 2, two male friends from King George visited a residence in the 300 block of 7th street.
After a short time of arriving witnesses stated the two men got into an altercation/argument when one male pulled out a gun and shot the other male one time in the chest. Police were dispatched at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday February 3.
Hough said the suspect-shooter was apprehended without incident at the scene and placed in custody and transported to Northern Neck Jail. The victim was transported by Air-Care to Inova Fairfax hospital Shock Trauma Facility.
The victim is 19 year old Montana Patrick McGinnis from King George Virginia. As of 6 p.m. his exact condition was unknown but police did confirm he was still alive.
The suspect-shooter is identified as 19 year old Cody Endicott. of Waldorf Maryland.
Endicott is being held at Northern Neck Regional Jail on charges of; felony assault malicious wounding, reckless handling of a firearm, shooting in occupied dwelling and underage possession of alcohol.
Endicott was arrested shortly after the shooting without incident at the scene and the gun was recovered at the scene.
No one living at the residence was involved in the altercation nor was anyone else injured during the incident. The incident is believed to be domestic in nature and the public was never in any danger.
Officer Tom Gray is the lead investigative officer. Colonial Beach Police Department is leading the investigation. Westmoreland County Sheriff's Department and Virginia State Police assisted in responding to and investigating the incident.
Colonial Beach Rescue Squad and Colonial Beach Fire Department responded to the call within minutes. The patient was air lifted from Colonial Beach at approximately 1:30.
