The Senate Armed Services Committee held a hearing on the Space Force on April 11, and United States Senator from Connecticut Richard Blumenthal had some scary and concerning statements. A full transcript and video can be seen at the link above.
He told the committee, that "the American people have no idea, really no idea about the immensity of the threat in space."
He said his concern was that the American people do not have the facts because they are classified, and if they did, they would be "pretty alarmed." Without the facts he fears the public will not understand why there is an urgency regarding space security.
"I think we have a real obligation to explain to the American people why space is a domain that matters," Blumenthal continued. "Why the threats there are real and urgent, why they are growing in importance."
