I've been wanting to hop back on the outfit post bandwagon for the last two months but nothing has been going quite according to plan. First, my ceiling caved in and flooded my office so it was in a state of disrepair since August. We kept meaning to get it fixed but then my grandmom got really sick. If you've been following my patreon you know that she's currently in hospice care at my house and I've been her primary caregiver since early October. Hence my sleep schedule has been a bit erratic and on the days that I get dressed (let's face it, I'm living a pretty sweatshirt-based life at the moment) I keep missing the sunshine. I tried taking outfit photos three times in the last week and every. single. time. the sun set before I had finished putting on my makeup, lol! Today I was like THIS IS IT. I am getting these done before midnight (aka 2:30PM.) I accidentally left my camera set to manual, so all the pictures are a little fuzzy, but you know what? I am a little fuzzy right now. My brain is a little fuzzy right now. Life is a little fuzzy right now. It seems appropriate!
I'm trying not to be a debbie downer but I also want to share what's going on and clearly what's going on... isn't super great. That being said, I have a pretty cool story to tell you about this dress!
I originally got this dress from Modcloth like 5 years ago. It is the sweetest confection of a frock, with layers of sheer white fabric, a to-die-for collar, and the prettiest scalloped red-edged border. It's like if a birthday cake was a dress. I had to sell it in a shop my closet sale a couple years back because I needed money (what else is new!) and it's been a frequent poshmark search for me whenever I have a little extra cash to try to repurchase it again. This fall I was casually partaking in one of those searches and I saw it! This dress in my size! I was so excited, and when I clicked on it, the second photo in the listing was ... me! What?! The person who was selling it wrote in their description that they had purchased the dress because *I* had worn it on my blog and they loved it so much that they had to find one, too. They had purchased it in two sizes and were parting with the size that hadn't fit. It was the most serendipitous way for this dress to come back into my life!
I just re-watched When Harry Met Sally and it reminds me of those little clips of real couples interspersed throughout the film. "The minute I saw her I knew it was meant to be. We were together for three years and then sadly, we had to part ways. But then a couple years later fate brought us back together again! She looked exactly the same. Exactly the same!" I love having little love stories with my clothes :)
