“The door is locked.” - Boring, overused, basic.
“A padlock through a rusted metal eye blocks entry”.- Woke, engaging, inspires roleplay.
Locked doors, a challenge that gets very repetitive, monotonous, and quite frankly boring over a long campaign. Inevitably, every door boils down to a Thieves Tool check that either succeeds, or leads to your Rogue asking if they can try again. We want to give you something that can help transition this mechanically redundant process into something fun and engaging for your party to enjoy.
To use these tables, simply select which obstacle you wish to place in front of your party and then roll on/select from the corresponding table. To add a trap, Choose either the ‘proximity’ or ‘triggered’ table, whichever works better for your obstacle, and roll on/select from the given list. Simply add the corresponding description to your obstacle and resolve the trap as described.
