In an response to "stay-at-home" efforts to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, a FREE writing workshop series based in New Jersey has newly extended an invitation to participate to anyone with interest and an Internet connection. The virtual workshop will be conducted via Zoom; participants can connect via telephone or computer.
The series focuses on generating new work from veterans' experiences. Organizers notably also place emphasis on welcoming veterans who are women, people of color, LGBTQ people, and others, as well as their "civilian" allies.
This year, our focus is on the experiences of women, people of color, and/or LGBTQ people serving in the armed forces, though anyone, regardless of their affiliation with those groups, is welcome at the workshops. An experienced facilitator will guide participants through a series of generative writing prompts that engage veterans’ experiences. All veterans are invited to sign up, whether or not they are affiliated with Rutgers. No experience necessary.
