Nimbal Grosponte - the mage-knight
I will not fictionalize the published adventures as though Indus ran through those, but I am imagining there have been some adventures to shape the progress at this new build.
Nimbal emphasizes the warrior-poet spirit by advancing Arcanist, Fighter, Scholar, and Survivalist as well as Health. This makes a combined impression of supporting the party and his own pursuits. He has endured lengthy journeys and lengthy sieges, so his capacity for valiant combat and compassion has been proven.
While gaining levels, he has gained two 1st circle spells and a benefit from Fearless. These grant spell slots to keep his repertoire at the ready for skirmishes. Reducing Nature allows for two new Traits of Heart of Battle and Honorable. He really starts to look like a paladin with the full build. He has some spells for defense and offense and a buff for significant battles, but also he can fight with a heightened capacity having advanced Fighter and Health.
Considering the progress as a military hero, Nimbal gains a sword for his kit. His Belief and Instinct remain.
I used the Torchbearer 1st edition to fit my concept for this build and Thor's suggested rules for creating higher-level starting characters found at the Torchbearer blog (Begin by Being). At a later time, I'll review this build with the Torchbearer 2nd edition rules.
This is the dry description of the process:
- Spending 23 advancement tests (pass or fail) gives 5x Arcanist raised, 5x Fighter raised, 3x Scout raised, 3x Survivalist raised, 7x Health raised.
- Selecting spells over level benefits gives C1 Spell Wizard's Aegis, C1 Spell Aetherial Swarm, C2 Spell Eldritch Darts.
- Reducing Nature by 2 permits buys new Trait Heart of Battle and new Trait Honorable.
