Folklore Thursday: Petrified

I read this and my entire outlook on who medusa was changed. And it informed the strip.

Medusa, far from being a horrific monster was someone raped and wronged so badly, turned into a monster. It's difficult not to read the "to look upon that face was enough to turn any into stone" as "to look upon that face and not show pity meant you had to be made of  stone" casting everything into a different light.

Also, the greek gods were sh*t heads, weren't they?

Panel 1, Petrified, panel 2, Poseidon walking away, Panel 3 Athena turning medusa into something else.

The statues here are all taken from Greek Statues and Medusa's shadow as an idea if lifted from The Clash of The Titans, one of my favourite films as a kid, which, I'm now going to have to reassess.
