Summary
Augusta quickly reviews the steps where students are taught the meanings of the definitions, including a focus on the words within the definitions. Then she demonstrates the use of rhythmic recitation to teach the memorization of the definitions and the tag sentences. She has fun as she turns up the chart and asks the viewers to see if they can recite the definitions from memory.

She talks about how memorization of hundreds of definitions over the course of K-2 has an excellent effect on internalization of the patterns of academic language.

She concludes by telling how students change in positive academic, intellectual, and emotional ways when they can recite academic definitions by heart.
