EXPLORE YOUR ARTWORK IN DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES

(PP47.  Epiphany 4)

Hi there! This is a public post that refers to Tier 1. Art Supporter and Tier 2. Art Producer. I invite you to subscribe to the first tier to have a more extensive description of the artwork, or to Tier 2 to know and self practice the technical procedures I use in it. Subscribe to Tier 3. Art Coach with Mindfulness (for individuals or company groups) and together, each week–through Zoom or Teams–we can apply these techniques to your own art project or process. It’d be interesting and fun.

Previous thoughts. Why do I recommend to make up two technical explorations (at least) of a same topic? To know the work and to prepare yourself to accomplish it in the best way possible. In my case, most of the times, I make up a digital version and then I turn into the traditional techniques or the way around, as it’s the case of this artwork.

The data sheet of this work is:

Title: Epiphany 4

Artist: Veronica Huacuja

Medium: Ink on paper

Size: 11.8 (W) x 8.2 (H) x 0.1 in

Year: 2020

Material.

  • Ink (pen)
  • Common white paper (Bond, 90 g / m2)

Technical comments. The initial resources of my painting process are almost anything I have in hand: photographs, articles, clay sculptures (I make my own models), mug shots, true crime snapshots and documentaries, fictional films, among others.

On this occasion, I used diverse snapshots of  “Seven” (1995), David Fincher’s brilliant film. The face of one of its characters amazed me with its drama and strange beauty. I used this initial source, and I contextualized it in a different environment.

So, the word epiphany, the title I chose for my artwork, as we may know,  means “(...) an experience of a sudden and striking realization” (1), that can be mystical, religious, philosophical, existentialist, etc.

The next image is the artwork I created with digital techniques. I made it after the ink artwork. Its data sheet is:

Title: Epiphany 5

Artist: Veronica Huacuja

Medium: Digital Painting

Year: 2020

Collection: Portrait Artwork

Hope you enjoy the work.
