The Professional Protester #26 Democrats, Enough With The Platitudes Already!

Dear Joe Biden and the Democratic Party,

Enough already.

Enough with the goddamn platitudes and political cliches!

The speeches at the DNC were an overall embarassment and quite frankly they were insulting to the intelligence of the general population, which has me worried that Donald Trump might win again in November, because focusing on such platitudes fails to meet the political moment.

Sure, hearing Joe Biden talk about the "soul of the nation" was all well and good and appealing for the liberals who are already going to vote blue no matter who.

But what about the actual population, the people who do not have the privilege to get lost in platitudes.  To them the election is not about the "soul" of the nation, the election is about their survival.

The democrats are trying desperately to generate excitment around the Biden/Harris ticket and they are failing miserably, and that is because they are trying to generate this excitement with the aforementioned cliches and platitudes.

The irony of the situation is the fact that if the democrats would simply embrace programs like universal income and medicare for all in the wake of this pandemic, it would create genuine excitement and people would enthusiastically vote for Biden.  But instead they do nothing but focus on voting against Trump.

It doesnt matter if Joe Biden or Donald Trump wins if we are still not providing people with the universal healthcare and social welfare programs that the COVID pandemic has shown people desperately need. Further, Medicare for all is the most popular policy idea in the nation.  The longer Joe Biden drags his feet on medicare for all, the more people will die.

Abstract bullshit like the "soul of the nation" isn't going to help people pay rent or get them a doctor if they catch COVID.  If you are only voting against Donald Trump and not for the needs of the masses who face unemployment, food scarcity, eviction, and no healthcare, then you are the over privileged one, not the disillusioned voter who you so desperately want to vote blue.

You are the one who is making it likely that Donald Trump will win again in November, not the progressives who are holding Biden to scrutiny, nor is the disillusioned masses who refuse to register with either party (remember, independents are the largest voter demo in the nation because of disillusionment with both parties, both democrats and republicans are minorities!).

To hell with these outdated platitudes, give the people substance and policy and maybe, just maybe, this will be a mandate for the democrats, otherwise, I hope you are all bracing yourselves for four more years of Donald Trump.
