It suddenly feels so autumnal now, the central heating is kicking in in the mornings, soups are back on for lunches and the woolly jumpers are out for real. So of course Halloween is just round the corner!
I love Halloween and have many fond memories of going out guising as a kid in Ayrshire, in groups of 4 or 5, all dressed up to fool the evil spirits and ready to do our turn - songs, jokes, stories, (I even remember playing recorder tunes one year), then back home to dook for apples. So I'm organising a Harpy Halloween Hang this year. It'll be on Zoom, our new favourite technological wonder, and I'll give a short 30-40 minute solo gig then we can have an informal get together for some harp chat, tunes, Q & A or whatever else develops... The bray harp will definitely be featuring as it's as devilish sounding as a harp can get, and Dance of the Dead will be played among other spooky tunes.
There will be sheet music for a couple of tunes with chord charts to download if you want to play along (on mute sadly but at least it'll feel like we're playing together!), and if you have a party piece you want to share let me know in advance and I'll make sure it's scheduled in. And if you just want to come along for the first part and leave after my gig that's totally cool.
This will be free for all my Patrons and £5 for everyone else, which you can pay by Paypal with my PayPal link and I'll send you the zoom link.
Sadly you will need to provide your own toffee apples and sweeties and drinks but it will be lovely to see you and share some spooky tunes!
Saturday 31st October 7-9pm on Zoom
Free for Patrons / £5 everyone else Fancy dress optional!
