It's #inktober again! The online artist 'event' that got me started on my daily #inkyDays drawing meditations. I'm also trying out some of the #InkySciPatterns prompts this year.

#inktober 10/01/2020

I didn't follow any prompts for this first drawing of the Inktober challenge. Rather, I felt inspired by seaweed and wanted to continue with the pattern I'd started in yesterday's drawing.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/02/20

Today's official Inktober prompt is "wispy", so I'm going with more kelpy inspiration as a watery wisp.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/03/20

Today's official Inktober prompt is "bulky". I started with that and went blobby.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/04/20

Was inspired by today's #inkySciPatterns for today's drawing: DNA!

I simplified/approximated the representation of bases per turn by drawing 5 instead of 10.4.

---------------------------

#intober 10/05/20

Meditating on Black Lives Matter in today's drawing. Encoding the message with alternating colors in the petals, and encircling the pattern with the key.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/06/2020

Playing with some bubble inspired patterns for today's drawing.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/07/20

Going geometric for today's drawing.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/08/20

Thinking about membranes and proteins while working on today's drawing.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/09/20

Playing with a tree-ring growth pattern for today's drawing. This one made me a bit dizzy, while working on it.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/10/20

In addition to the official #inktober prompt list, there are lots of groups doing their own prompts. The #InkySciPatterns prompt for today is Purkinje. How could I resist all that branching?

---------------------------

#inktober 10/11/20

Inspired by today's #InkySciPatterns prompt (Forams) for today's drawing. Almost cartoonish, today's drawing is a bit different from my usual, but these are fascinating patterns and shapes.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/12/20

Today's #inkySciPatterns prompt is "Cell Membrane Bilayer"! I love drawing these!

I couldn't resist adding a few proteins to my phospholipids.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/13/20

Practicing drawing covid trimers, along with other membrane proteins, in today's drawing.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/14/20

Can you guess what today's #InkySciPatterns prompt is, based on my abstract interpretation of it?

---------------------------

#inktober 10/15/20

Oh my! Today's drawing took me so long that I was getting hand cramps, and had to pause frequently. When I look at the finished drawing, I can tell I was getting tired in the outer segments and wasn't drawing as carefully as usual.

I was nearly done when I had an ink catastrophe, and had to start all over.  Inspiration came from today's #InkySciPatterns prompt: Fibonacci Spiral.

---------------------------

#inktober 10/16/20

Today's #InkySciPatterns prompt is Rhizobium-Legume symbiosis. Had to look that one up, as I only had a vague memory from my undergrad Biology days.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/17/2020

I wasn't quite ready to move on from #InkySciPatterns 'Fibonacci' prompt, and went with much bigger dots in today's drawing. Fibonacci is tough to draw in a satisfying composition in a small space. The scales grow so very quickly. Mathematically, it's enthralling, though. And I do love writing code that visualizes the Fibonacci spiral.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/18/20

Playing with a network of citrus for today's drawing, inspired by today's #InkySciPatterns prompt: "citrus fruit".

----------------------------

#inktober 10/19/2020

Today's #InkySciPatterns prompt is 'close packed crystal structure', so I drew a close packed crystal structure of peace signs.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/20/20

I've got sparse data on my mind. It's certainly influenced today's drawing.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/21/20

I addressed and stamped a whole bunch of envelopes for my Stickers and Stamps project this morning. I've got stamps on the brain, as you can see in today's drawing.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/22/20

Today's #InkySciPatterns prompt is connectome, which is pretty cool. Basically, it's a wiring map of a brain. The one's I've seen are brightly colored, with many colors.

But I'm set myself a challenge for this month of #inktober, to only draw with black ink. So I decided to go with an abstract interpretation of a connectome for today's drawing.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/23/20

Today's #InkySciPatterns prompt is "snow flakes", so I indulged in playing with some cute little geometries for today's drawing.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/24/20

Going abstract again. Today's #InkySciPatterns prompt is "Geodesic Dome". I drew the frame first, and then filled in with a meandering path.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/25/2020

Today's #InkySciPatterns prompt is ferns! Oh, I really want to play with colors in this pattern, but I've challenged myself to use only black ink for this month of #inktober drawings.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/26/2020

Wanted to keep playing with fern-inspired patterns for today's drawing.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/27/20

The official #inktober drawing prompt is "music" today. My brain went to phospholipids, and  cell membranes, and micelles.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/28/20

Today's #InkySciPatterns prompt is "paisley". When I started the first shape, it took self-control to resist drawing it as a fish. I may have to experiment with paisley fish at some point.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/29/20

Wow! Only two more days, after today, in this year's #inktober challenge. I went with the #InkySciPatterns prompt "chevron" for today's drawing.

----------------------------

#inktober 10/30/20

Get out there and vote!

----------------------------

#inktober 10/31/20

Some spooky mitochondria for this last drawing for #inktober.
