Rising to level 4, I imagine Lori has plundered the fallen tower near Tarn Tanleth, so she’ll be picking up several elements of growth based on that imagined series of adventure, camp, and town phases. For the adventure phase, she gains Arcanist and Lore Master delving into the fallen tower site. For the camp phase, increasing Cook and Scavenger are valued tools to assist a party (Hunter remains a valued tool). For the town phase, she gains Scholar and increases Orator; she needs to discipline her study of the findings from the fallen tower as well as research between adventure phases. Orator aids in rallying patriotism for Tarn Tanleth; she wants to boast of the town and surrounding region like a skald would.
Taking Abstemious seemed the better choice; it is an easy means of reducing the draw on rations and water, but might turn out depleting the wine to overcome Angry. Skirmisher makes less sense without having improved her combat role, but she needs that leather armor to last longer. Plucky is a great level benefit to stand alongside Abstemious, so that was a great choice.
I feel the level benefits were easy to select; Lori is less suited to delving but will be helpful to a party in other ways. She’ll need to rely on good adventuring companions to get by.
Reflecting on the delve into the fallen tower, I reduced Nature to buy Wizard’s Sight. This might seem eccentric; she lacks the spell slots to cast spells related to vision and foresight. I’m not sure I can argue the point; it might get less play than other Traits, but I feel it is a good outcome from delving into a fallen mage tower. Perhaps spell-scrolls or rune-engraved instruments will fill that gap.
I saw no reason to alter the Belief; the Instinct remains.

Looking toward the next layer of growth, Lori will continue to broaden her role as a flourishing rogue. And, I want to entrench a bit of the pattern shown above, so she’ll meet powerful figures, get more spirited and passionate, and start looking for her own place in the Tarn Tanleth history and heritage.
