This is Augusta’s third “Directed to Students” (DTS) video on writing an opinion essay. Her DTS videos are designed for teachers to embed in their online classes with their students.

In this video, Augusta asks students to identify an animal that they find interesting--even fascinating--that they would like to write about.

She then uses a Circle Map and a student helper to model how a class of students might brainstorm a list of animals that they want to write about. She then asks students to give their teacher the name of the animal that is their choice and to watch for the next video where she will expand on this topic.
