The Professional Protester #38 My Christmas Gift to You

I am not commenting on the Force the Vote debate which has taken over twitter.  I will not be debating anyone or mentioning the names of any hack comedian who might have started this whole, embarrassing debacle.

No, what I will do is wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays.

I will also take this time to say that the entire Force the Vote debate on medicare for all validates my earlier points about punditry.  Podcasting and Youtubing, the Leftist form of punditry, has become more important to some people than actual tactical thinking.  Not only that, the responses of some of the people who support the forced floor vote are resorting to attacks on those who disagree.

Folks, that shit was okay in the primary, but its over, the Left needs to unite to actually win programs like Medicare for all.  You are not uniting the left when you attack people who don't want to see the legislation that could save their lives die on the floor.

When you call someone a sell out or a "democratic party stooge" just for disagreeing with you on a tactic, one that is likely to never even come to fruition, then you are in fact validating all the bad faith smears about the left being too vicious and too online.

Plus, it's just a fucking cliché at this point, can we have one instance in history where the left doesn't eat itself alive because people need to validate their anti authoritarian identities and not fight for the material needs of the working class.  Like, just once?

What I also don't understand is why people think AOC is a sell out for thinking tactically.  What is also confusing is these same people make the argument that "politicians will never save us!" yet demand politicians be the ones to do all the leg work for things like Medicare for All.  There is also this delusion on the left that once you enter elected office, you immediately are a member of the bourgeoisie.  People actually think AOC and Pelosi are on the same level.

Pelosi is a neoliberal worth $100 million who has had over 30 years to concentrate all the power of the Democratic Party machine into her court.

AOC hasn't even been in office for 3 years and until she is still one of the poorest congressional reps, with a net worth of approximately $100,000 dollars.

Also, it should be mentioned that legislators can't just force a vote, all votes have to go through the Speaker of the House and the Rules Committee before the floor will consider it.

This is what happens when idealism blinds you to material reality, and when you are a leftist but refuse to study civics, you get sectarianism fueled by the Green Party reject version of Lewis Black.

So, this holiday season, choose a podcast about bigfoot or aliens instead of continuing to support the punditry that is killing American politics.  We don't need podcaster and youtubers to become the far left version of right wing AM talk radio, we need a developed ideology that unites us and attacks the roots of our needs.

That is another part of my Christmas gift to you all, I promise to never start a podcast.  You're only paying for the written word here. ;-)
