The Weekly Protest | Just Because You Said Something

Just Because

Despite the pandemic and my current financial worries, I have kept a very cool, zen state of mind. But recently I keep seeing people I respect do things that bother me. It has gotten so bad that I've quit Twitter and I'm barely even checking Facebook anymore.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't just a tiny bit salty.

This is my blog, I can post whatever I want. So, let me put what has been on my mind out into the ether, so I can get back to my Lebowski state of mind.  Consider this my, "Airing of the Grievances." (RIP Jerry Stiller)

Here is what has been bothering me:

Just because you hate the system, doesn't mean you are a good person.

Just because you don't like capitalism, does not mean you can't be racist.

Just because you are disillusioned with politics and elections, does not mean you have the right to spread misinformation.

Just because you call it "misinformation" doesn't change what it is, lies. Misinformation is just a fancy word for lies.

Just because your anti-authoritarian does not mean you are a good soldier against authoritarianism.

Just because you have a sense of right and wrong does not mean you are a better person than others, it doesn't even mean that you're necessarily a good person.

Just because you care about people besides yourself, doesn't give you the right to assume anyone who disagrees with you doesn't.

Just because you call yourself a leftist, doesn't mean you care about the working class.

Just because you use rhetoric like "intersectional" and " working-class power" doesn't mean you understand what those things mean.

Just because you say something, doesn't make it so.

Just because you voted, does not mean anything will change.

Just because you didn't vote doesn't give you the right to look down on anyone who does.

Just because you are jaded does not give you the right to jade others.

Just because you think you know yourself doesn't mean you do.

Just because you say you support someone or practice solidarity, doesn't mean you do.

Just because you protest, doesn't mean you know how to fight.

And just because you have a sense of idealism, that doesn't mean your enemy gives a shit.

Well, I already feel better, is anything bugging you right now? Fire away in the comments if anything has you salty, but don't forget to share today's post if you do! This is my blog but it is our space. Don't hold back.  What is your "just because?"
