Have you ever tried to take a picture and as you press the shutter release you twist the lens? You can create some amazing effects. This is a photography technique as well, to try and create different persepective of a familiar photo. And somewhat illustrates my point form yesterday from a fixed position we can be both in the future and in the past at the same time.
And I guess distortion is something that we live with every day, our memory of things is changed by the events that are happening daily and by the subjective view of our brain. And perhaps you remember me saying in one of my earlier entries that the brain will always paint you a picture where you come out in a much shinier light than you were when the event occured. The brain does not like bein in the wron, nor does it like to be in deficit, so things get altered. Also as human beings the view of self may well be very different to what you project to others on the outside, and what is others pick up on you. And by the way, do you see the real image of yourself when you look in the mirror? Or is this a projected view of how maybe you look like? Actually it appears what we see in the mirror is not what others see when it comes to your face or your body. Have you ever wondered how many distortions your brain creates on a daily basis? How many times it creates a different image based on your own internal expectations? Have you ever wondered if you are indeed the sum of what you perceive to be your history, or whether you are a sum of all of your ancestory? Have you ever wondered if you came in knowing into this world and gradually forgot, or you knew nothing and you gradually learnt?
Btw did you notice that your left and right foot was a different temperature? I bet you did not notice until i reminded you. But I guess your brain did not make you aware of that information as the sum of the two temperatures equated out across the two therefore you did not need to take action.
When was the last time you saw your nose as it protrudes from your face? I guess it's been a while, but think about it, it sticks out of your face every day and yet your brain deletes that information as irrelevant therefore you do not see your nose. So then how can you accurately rely on what you see, hear, feel, smell, perceive? Can you be certain of what is happening around you? Can you be certain that the conversation you had with someone a few days ago when you felt really wronged it was because they were in the wrong? Or has your brain deleted information that would make it feel lacking?
Hmmm....how accurate is your distortion?
