Listen Local October 2021

Oct 1, 2021

Hi sweet people!! I hope this finds you healthy and happy. I wanted to start right off by saying THANK YOU for helping to keep Listen Local alive and well as we enter into our 18th year of sharing local music and creative stuff. It was October of 2003 when Hotrod Harris gave me $500 to start my website, my besties bought me a PA and speakers for my birthday which allowed me to host showcases in places that didn't have live music previously (some are now thriving live music venues!), Tim Flack helped me start a podcast and the San Diego music community and I began our long lasting love affair. None of it possible without the help of friends and support from the community.

Ok, so, it's Chick Camp eve and I get to spend the weekend with a coven of cool, crafty, cute, creative ladies and I can't wait. I still have tons of stuff to do in preparation so let's get to it. This month's Listen Local Show Podcast is NOW PLAYING and it's a good one! Click, hear!

Listen Now: Listen to As heard on 91.3FM Pala Rez Radio on 10/3/21 by ListenLocalRadio.com in The LISTEN LOCAL Show playlist online for free on SoundCloud  That's right, that sweeet pooch Jack has given me an hour of his show to share more local music, from the ocean to the desert and beyond!! Here's who you'll hear this month:

Ok, big news. Band Camp Music Fest has been postponed. It's just too crazy still to try and put together a 3 day event and make it safe for everyone SO instead we're producing an afternoon and evening of amazing music from 11am to 11pm. This is a safe distanced, mask and proof of vax required event with wrist bands indicating your level of comfort (hugs, fist bumps or no touching) so basically, if you're kinda paranoid about germs and stuff (like me! J&J wtf?!) you should feel pretty dang safe at this shin dig. Tickets are $20 and half of that goes to the performer of your choice. If you're coming from San Diego there is a camping option, just holler at me when you purchase tickets online and I'll fill you in on the 411. We're capping it at 200 guests so get your tickets now to make sure you're in! Visit ListenLocalRadio.com/atThePalms for more info or to purchase tickets. Check out this lineup!

Hart Acres has some openings on our calendar if you're looking for a desert get away, the weather is PERFECT for a visit. Book the Casita or pop up your tent and then go explore Joshua Tree for the day. Visit Giant Rock. Take in a drive in concert at Mon Petite Mojave, so much to do out here! Plan your family or group retreat or come to one of ours! Holler at me with any questions.

So, if you're following along you may have noticed that the last 3 gigs Calamity was schedule for were canceled for one non-Covid related reason or another. Sheesh! We are going to break that Calamity curse in November when we rock the stage at The Palms in Wonder Valley during Listen Local at The Palms. If you can't make a destination concert work then we'll be rocking out at Winstons later in November, too! I'll fill you in about that next month. We sure miss you and if you miss us you can get your fix on Calamity TV

Hart Acres and Listen Local have been getting some sweet press lately! Check out the story by JT Moring in The San Diego Troubadour Magazine, and Bart Mendoza's story is in a bunch of publications in San Diego, and SDvoyager did a thing, too. Grateful to be able to share my story and hopefully garner more listeners to hear YOUR music! :) xo

Ok, that's it for this month. Please know how much I appreciate you folks who sponsor and subscribe. You. Give. Me. Life. Talk to you in November. xo Cathryn
