"Second Chances" - a short story

Hello, hello!

This short story comes to you with a soundtrack! It was inspired by the soundtrack of the Netflix show Arcane. The link will take you to the music. The story idea sparked with the lyric, "That's when everything went wrong." Then from there, I began getting more ideas from other songs and filling out and building on the story idea that I had. Soon, almost the entire soundtrack had contributed some snippet of lyric or concept to the story! And yes, I admit, I quoted a few lyrics in the story. I won't say which. See if you can catch them.

If you have seen Arcane, do not expect that this will be anything like the show. It isn't a fan fiction of the show or even the same world. This story is set in a very different world, something more futuristic, less magic, more sci-fi...probably the same amount of politics though.
