[A quick note about the cover you're seeing here: First of all, it's temporary. I used a piece of art I picked up on Adobestock for the ship and background. I amped up the colour and created the titles to honour the funky psychedelic science fiction paperback covers from the 60s and 70s. Please share your thoughts on it. I'll do another pass on the cover when I know where this little novelette will end up.]

While I was working on Psycho Electric, I had an idea while I was talking to the narrator for the audiobook, David Berlekamp. It was an irresistible oddity.

I didn't want to grow the idea into a novella or novel, especially since I didn't have time to write one between Psycho Electric and Spinward Fringe 17: Clash. The idea wouldn't fit into what I had planned for the next few Spinward Fringe novels either, especially since the story begins quite some time before the era that the books are in right now.

I still wanted to write it up and put it out there, so I decided I'd write something short, just a few chapters that I could tap out while I'm prepping for the next Spinward Fringe novels, which I knew would take a few weeks.

It would also serve as a good bridge between Psycho Electric and Clash, so you guys would have something to read on Patreon. So, without sharing the concept behind this at all, I present a short story that's only a few chapters long. It takes place in the Spinward Fringe Universe sometime before the current era and connects to the books nicely. I'll let you discover how.

As with all other serial releases on Patreon, this is an early draft. If you see typos or other proofing issues, please bring them up. Other than that, I'd love to see comments on this. Make no mistake, this is pure action science fiction. I hope you enjoy it!
