Happy April! Hopefully this month has been kind to you so far even when life gets tough. As you may or may not know, I'm working hard on putting together a calendar for 2018 and this is the piece that I drew for April! (Here's where you can find January , February , and March's pieces <3) I've been incredibly inspired by nature lately (a lot of which I owe to David Attenborough and BBC's Planet Earth) and find myself incredibly drawn to its beauty, strength, and resilience.
Maybe it's just a result of being in my early 20s, but I've been feeling an incredible need for adventure and exploration lately. I still have this wonderful memory of visiting California's state parks while travelling along the coast during my junior year of high school. I remember feeling so at peace within the forest and breathing in the cold, fresh air of the lush and vivid atmosphere. It was green everywhere I looked and trees towered over me providing shade, shelter, and quiet. It felt like nothing could hurt me and an immense sense of calm washed over my entire body. I long to experience that feeling again and wanted to capture part of that memory in this calendar piece. I also wanted to pay homage to the beginning of Spring and all the life and renewal that it brings.
There's a lot going on in the world, but let's keep doing our best to find beauty in the small things. It may be harder now than before, but goodness still exists. And if you can't find the goodness in your world, be the goodness.
