Friends,

It's time to think big. What does utopia look like?

Utopia has always been a part of my project; I want us to become what we are: loving, compassionate, creative, cooperative, individual, enthusiastic, pleasurable, thriving beings in a culture made up of all the same components.

So for the next AE Salon, I'll be asking you to join me in envisioning a utopia. What will it look like?

To help you along, I'm giving you a creative prompt and a couple links.

Here's how it works:

1. Come up with a utopian idea. What's a utopian idea? One in which you basically get what you WANT, not bound to practicality or what you DON'T want. So in other words, instead of stating, "I want a world without war," you'd say, "I want a world where we solve our problems with giant art contests and potlatches." That's a rather pat example, but you get what I mean. Frame it in the positive and think BIG. If you still need some help here's a (very low budge, kind of rambly) short video I made before AEWCH existed, just post 2016 election, on the topic.

Also, do give a quick read to my short essay on the radical utopianist, Charles Fourier

2. I will provide you with a link via patreon email to the meeting 48-72 hours ahead of time. To access the meeting, show up on May 5, a little before 10:00AM California time. Use the link, then just follow the prompts! It's really that easy. But if you're not tech savvy, be sure to show up about 5 minutes early so you can email me if you can't figure it out.

3. At the meeting, I will start off by talking about utopia. Then we'll open up to conversation with each other, guided and moderated by me, you, the reading, and the leading thoughts above. Remember: we work through the principle of RESONANCE. That means you when we talk about the texts and with each other, we say what is interesting to us, or what something makes us think, what directions it sends us in. We don't talk about what we disagree with, either with each other or with the text. This isn't to get you to agree with everything, but instead to see what productive conversations are generated from a restriction that involves perpetually keeping curiosity and good will in the conversation. Also please do follow the urge to contribute if you have it and to interact with what the community members say, not only me. Talk with and to everyone in the room!

Very excited to see you all there and to have a deep conversation about utopias!
