Ancient Flame . 5x7 inches . 2017

Did I mention? I am having a June sale! It won't be on the 1st, but I'll schedule it within the first ten days of the month. There will be at least three 5x7 inch paintings and one 11x14 inch painting available. All original and Light Reactive!

I'm on an ancient civilization kick again. It never really goes away, but lately I've been diving further down the rabbit hole. Specifically, over the last few years I've become increasingly fascinated with Göbekli Tepe, a 12,000 year old megalithic structure that archaeologists first stumbled upon in 1963 and didn't start excavating until 1994. Most of it is still buried underground but the more we learn, the deeper the mystery gets. What were hunter-gatherers doing carving intricate symbols and drawings into 20-foot tall pillars of stone? Wouldn't they be sorta busy with all the hunting and gathering? :oO

I encourage anyone who likes this type of thing to research further (at least more than the Wikipedia page on it.) It's pretty mind-blowing. I know I'm not the only one.

Anyway, this painting isn't of Göbekli Tepe. Rarely do I paint many earthbound scenes. Alien landscapes captivate me more, probably because I'm inventing them entirely in my mind. This could be anywhere. You choose. Wherever it is, I bet their ancient culture is pretty fascinating too.

Ingredients: acrylic, beach sand, crushed lava rock, crushed garnet, natural mica flakes, German glass glitter, phosphorescent pigments, varnish, water & light on canvas board. (Shown here in natural light, black light, and no light.)

Ancient Flame is $300. As always, Patrons (in order of subscription amount) get first dibs on original art.
