And Then The Birds Flew Away

This is a short piece for Harp, Violin and Electric Guitar and is the first part of a project where I'm writing musical stories to pictures and artwork.

The title reflects the theme of the song as it is a story about an encounter between two birds in a vibrant garden, however the exact details of the story I will leave to your own interpretation.

When I first started this song, I wrote the basic harp melody which was very similar to how the opening melody is now. I then started playing around with some guitar riffs to bring a new colour to the harp and introduce an all important feeling of tension into the piece. The emotional feel of the song centers around the dance between the harp and guitar melodies and the violin brings a foundation that grounds those emotional waves.
