1974: Kirchick's Warning
In 1978, Dr. Julian Kirchick was dying. After an extended bout with cancer, it was clear to everyone -- especially Kirchick -- that he was soon to be gone; and, because Kirchick was a very tenacious man, he had arranged for the journal he had kept since the start of his illness to be partly published as a record of his experience with a terminal disease.

Anomalies: Kirchick's Warning
This was one of those odd instances where researching a monster of Monsters Here & There uncovered an event that needed to be added to Anomalies... often, it's the other way around. In this case I was prepping an article on the Grim Reaper for MH&T and, after checking the historic and folkloric nature of the being's history, I did a little searching for contemporary uses; and, stumbled across reports of people actually seeing what shouldn't exist in reality. While an argument might be advanced that people who expect a death might make themselves see a cultural icon of that fact, it's hard to argue that they would see said icon before they knew they were in danger... so this report from Dr. Jules Kirchick stands out as a very unusual occurrence indeed.
