So, this project is an idea I was kicking around for awhile and I decided to take the opportunity and use it for my Senior Capstone project in college. That way I would get to work on it as obsessively as I want and I would get a grade for it! Well now, we are in the last stretch of the semester.
Langford Cove is episodic, meaning each episode is a contained story, so I originally wanted to complete the whole first episode for my capstone. Well, my imagination ran a little wild and the first episode ended up longer than I thought and while I began working on panels it became apparent that it just wasn't possible. Four months sounds like a long time, but it's really not! Anyway, by the end of the semester I will have completed about half of the first episode. I still plan to begin releasing them in May, I still have to work out all the kinks with that, right now I gotta focus on finishing this part of the project.
Art wise, I've learned a lot during this process and I feel that I've gotten closer to my vision for the world. You'll see my improvement as it goes along, so bear with me for the first few parts. I plan on experimenting with the style and format for future episodes.
This summer once the episode is rolling out, I'm gonna really focus on promotion and social media presence, making a real plan for this patreon (for when I get some patrons that aren't family ;) ), while also still working on the comic. Some ideas I'm kicking around right now are art videos, tutorials etc in Krita, maybe a weekly stream, social media pages for the comic, etc.
I'm just so excited to see everything come together, and see the seeds starting to sprout. I'm really close to my goal of reaching 100 subscribers on Tapastic! When I get there, I'll draw a special celebratory illustration (after capstones over) to kick off the release of Langford Cove! Thanks to all my friends and family for the support, and for everyone who's subscribed on Tapastic and followed my art blog on tumblr. <3 <3
