As promised, here's the latest podcast, featuring the prolific Wargames Soldiers & Strategy contributor and popular Twitter wargaming personality Mark Backhouse.
Mark has become well known in the last couple of years for his remarkable 2mm games and the tiny figures he sculpts for them, including the Siege of Portsmouth which he staged at The Other Partizan last year with another well-known gamer, Sidney Roundwood (soon also to be a guest on the show).
Mark's interests roam far and wide, and as a history teacher he has a firm grasp of the reality behind what he portrays on the tabletop. But he is, first and foremost, a gamer, and our discussion includes his gaming past and current influences. We even venture into his involvement in matrix campaign games and the recent Discord online Kriegsspiel, in which he played the commander of the Red army.
Fans of Ancients and WWII will be especially pleased because we chat about those periods in response to questions from patron Sean Souter. We even venture into old- and middle-school gaming options and your host discovers that—shock, horror!—that he has a gap in his collection! [Mercifully, rectified soon afterwards with a quick visit to eBay...] Finally, we look at Mark's plans for the future, which include a very exciting siege project.
So, sit back and enjoy listening to another discussion between your host and a real wargaming enthusiast, sharing their passion for the hobby.
P.S. You'll find a list attached of all mark's articles so far in WSS magazine.
