Always be yourself, unless you can be Steampunk Batgirl, then be Steampunk Batgirl... It's been ages since I was inspired to make a new exhibition costume - I've felt a bit "burned out" creatively for a while.... However my little nephew is Batman obsessed and he's coming to his first ever comic convention at MCM expo London in May. I'm going to be there signing books and meeting fans too, so I felt inspired to live up to the "cool aunty" expectation and pull something fun out of the bag! I've used one of my basic black steampunk aprons from my Etsy store and created a special Victorian-ish logo with lots of lace layered with hand beading and some gear wheel fabric (from my spoonflower/fabricmonkey range) It took a while but it felt really good to be doing delicate embroidery and detail again instead of just bulk manufacturing! There's a Batmask on the making table too, so I'm just hoping I can get it all done in time for the end of May!
