The Beauty of Sketching (Even Badly!)
I've found sketching to be a really wonderful way to document, communicate, pass the time, and express myself. However, I am NOT the best sketcher! As lovely as sketching is, I prefer to paint. So painting is what I have progressed at. Patrice makes progress, right?

My point here is that you don't have to be good at drawing to have a good time doing it.

One of the many, many things I'm excited about for my Phenomenal Women Art Retreat, is that we are going to carry sketchbooks around, and record the wonderful things we see in Oaxaca.

Sure, we could snap pictures with our phones - and we will - but when we sketch, we slow down, immerse ourselves into the moment, and see all the details that we might have missed by snapping a quick pic.

In the video above, I show some of my not so great (for someone who makes her living with art), but not so bad sketches from a recent trip. Honestly, I don't care that they're not so great because they bring me back to amazing moments in my life.

So, I encourage you to sketch! Sketch with any sort of a writing utensil that's handy, on anything you can. I'll be hosting a free sketching challenge in January 2019 - the idea came to me first because I could use some practice, then I thought the women on my retreat might want some practice leading up to the retreat. Then I thought I'd just invite everyone!

Stay tuned on more info on the challenge.

The retreat is February 4-11 2019 in Oaxaca City Mexico, and there are still a few spots left! Visit for details!
