Ben Carson and Michael Che

Michael Che is on Saturday Night Live and is actually really good. Weekend Update has always been my favorite segment. Chevy Chase started the segment-- it was clever, but after he left, Dan Akroyd and Jane Curtin made it iconic. It was Dennis Miller who made the segment great. He paved the way for Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Lee Camp, John Oliver, and Jimmy Dore. (What the hell happened to Dennis Miller? Seriously, he was once funny.) Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey returned Weekend Update to a two person job. Today Michael Che and Colin Jost are my second favorite incarnation of the sketch. (I would be remiss not to give a shout out to Kevin Nealon who is my personal favorite.) This is from a recent episode where they lambasted Ben Carson. If you are not familiar with Ben Carson, he was a brilliant neurosurgeon who apparently is working hard at making sure that separating brain surgery from rocket science is something only smart people do. Because no matter how great of a doctor he was, he is a complete idiot. Maybe he’s like Rain Man and sits all day talking about how prison makes gay people, how Obamacare is the worse thing since slavery, and his K Mart underwear, but if you put a brain in front of him he can fix it. Because of that, conservatives think he’d make a great president. In the words of Rain Man, “Oh that’s bad, definitely bad.” Or was that Sewer Urchin from The Tick? Share if you agree.
