The Best Meatballs Post Op
I can rarely eat ground beef now. One of two things happens, I take two bites and I am full or I take two bites and I dump, either way, I have officially given up on ground beef. I use ground turkey and pork.
One of my favourite meals has always been meatballs and sauce and of course pasta. I skip the pasta now and just enjoy the meatballs and sauce.
I find ground turkey is too dry for my pouch so I mix it with some ground pork and it seems to work.
My basic meatballs, which we have eaten since the soft food stage:
one pound each of ground turkey and pork, tablespoon or more of pepper and garlic powder....and that's it! No breadcrumbs, no eggs, just meat.
I brown them in a bit of olive oil in a pan and then put them on paper towel and finish them in a 350 oven for about 20-30 minutes.
I top them with my homemade tomato sauce - that recipe is for another post.
