Last week I painted a smallish (11"x14"), commissioned watercolor portrait of a little boy named Cameron. Included: a nice birthday spread with presents, a cake, a balloon, cards. Smiling faces are difficult for most painters. Lots of facial muscles are activated with a big smile--relaxed faces are a lot easier. But I had a good time with Cameron's growing-in teeth, and there's just something so all-American about him. His mother commissioned the portrait, and she's thrilled with it.
