Hello guys!

This is one of my early paintings I've made about 3 years ago now! I love this, it'ssomewhat of a poor quality due to the device it was taken with, I'm sorry about that.

This piece I made based on my own views on religious empowerment over my muslim society, its teachings, the way of treating new/different ideas and ways of thinking, beliefs, opinions, etc. I've portrayed how the response to any of the above is supposed to be violent and harsh, completely refusing the other and labelling them as worthless. Many people have gone through this and it just breaks my heart, as I can honestly say I am one of them.

These are some simple highlights of what some things intend to represent in the artwork:

-The green portrays the false peace and tolerence they try to make others believe exists.

-The blood represents how the teachings suggest literal murder of apostates, but it also goes to metaphorically mean anything related to rejection, hurt, violence and abuse, emotional and physical, that one faces in such situations.

-The key is a symbol of how when one tries to share freely their thoughts and what they believe in that is caged in by society, religion, teachings, etc.., it leads to disaster in most cases and much persecution.

-The rope as you see, is close to tearing up, leading to letting out the box and what it contains, right into the pool of blood, and even then, still breaking the light bulb inside (views, beliefs, etc).

-As for the background, it's an even bigger cell, ingulfing the smaller cage, saying how the process to peeling off all of the layers created by our envirments is difficult and long and requires continual faith and trying and not giving up to get to eventual, total freedom and victory.

Thank you so much for reading! If you have any further questions, opinions & feedback, please free to share them!

Love.
