The longer I work on Brisket
, the better I understand that the value of the project is that it allows me to experiment with form. Whereas the first three issues of Brisket
made sense as single essays, my theme this month--cityzenship--has lent itself to shorter travelogues recording my visits to sites around Pittsburgh. As a result, I'm releasing this intro today and will drop a new travelogue every Wednesday of July. Slider patrons will get the full text, and Sandwich and Meat + Three patrons will get bonus photos and video content as well!
After you read the intro, I'd be really curious to hear your personal take on the questions I pose. Do you feel like you're "of" the place where you live? If so, how long did it take to reach that point? What has defined the feeling of inclusion for you?
P.S. I'm making this post public, to give people a taste of Brisket! If you enjoy this sample, I invite you to become a Brisket patron and continue reading.
