Broken overhead wire between Schagen and Anna Paulowna, Filmed from train cabin.
On October 28, 2013, there was a autumn storm in The Netherlands. With wind gusts well over 100km/h (62mph) there was some damage to the overhead wires providing power to the Dutch trains.
I had to drive a train from Alkmaar to Den Helder and asses the state of the track to see if the train service could be started again. All went well until I passed Schagen were the was a broken overhead wire. Luckily I managed to stop in time and didn't make contact with the wire.
The current of the overhead wire is 1800 volts and because it doesn't make contact with the ground there is no short circuit.
