A chilly sunset...
Recently I was driving home from work after a really busy day and my thoughts were only of a nice shower, cup of tea and some dinner. I us couldn't be bothered mentally with anything else. That was until I caught a glimpse of this sunset. On the route home there is a long straight road which gives a view, or not depending on the weather, of the coast line and on this evening the colours started to burn so bright. I then realised that I had my camera in the boot and thought "I have to see this", so I drove past the house and straight to the beach. WOW! Just, absolutely wow! This is what I thought when turning the final corner and getting to see the coastline through the dunes. Looking across the slightly rippling sea to the Isle of Arran with sea birds gliding past every so often immediately soothed and decompressed my mind from the day's work. When I crouched there to get shots of sunset I realised that by taking that little bit more time and going that little further on my journey really did hold a reward. I did however become a bit mentally frantic again and wanted only to capture the sunset on camera and I wasn't appreciating what was right there in front of me. Having caught a few images and videos (including a live instagram show) I decided to pack the cameras away and enjoy the rest of the show for myself. When I looked around I saw a load of people doing the same, capturing the image then sitting and relaxing to see the show. Once the sunset had finished and the Royal blue skies were becoming darker everyone began heading back to their cars. While walking back it was clear to see people nodding to each other as if to say "did you see that?" with the nodding reply of "oh aye!" I spoke to two people who both agreed that it was a great sunset and that they too had made the journey after seeing the colours in the sky. It made me realise that while we don't have the world's biggest mountains, the sandiest of beaches or the bluest of seas we certainly do have some spectacular sights when you put them all together. For a country that is renowned for rain it is that much more spectacular when we capture one of those glorious beach sunsets.
