I started singing this tune in the car perhaps three years ago. Trouble was, I didn't know enough about Killer Frost at the time to fill a song. After remaining in song-writer's block for some time, the song fell into the back reaches of my mind to be pursued at a later date. Some time later I stumbled upon a large run of Firestorm comics at an amazing prize. I snatched them up immediately and devoured them with glee. At last! I had the stories, concepts and themes to complete my song. Right on cue, life got busy and the tune was again put to pasture. Two additional problems contributed: recording was becoming difficult at home due to a second dog in our house (now Rory had another dog to bark at). AND my recording equipment wasn't capable of producing the sound I had in my head.
Last Christmas I used my gift money to purchase a midi keyboard for my computer and suddenly things started to move. I created the track for the piece in record time, but recording the vocals remained problematic. My first several takes included various dog sounds in the background as Rory and Daphne chased each other around the house and barked at the chipmunks on our stoop. I determined to record at my office, but whenever I had the opportunity, I my desire to head home was greater. (Work life has been hectic.) So... finally TODAY, the day after Christmas I gave myself the gift of recording the vocal track to the song. The dogs have been (relatively) compliant and things landed into place some measure of ease. I am SO EXCITED and proud to share Cold Hearted Killer with you. I think it's perhaps one of my best.
Enjoy this tune! I'll send you all a private post with a link to download the MP3!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a wonderful New Year to you all!
