When I finally got access to a darkroom I never wanted to leave. As my classmates quickly left for digital photography I stayed and wanted to create bigger and more ambitious works. There's just something about working with light, and actually creating a piece of art with something that you cannot touch. It takes dedication to create photographs that can last well over a hundred years, and it's something that I always enjoy. In the coming weeks I will be going out to collect these images in the dark and will be essentially painting the landscape with light to capture it.
The series that I will be continuing is my Portal series. In which I scout out a location that just draws me in, set up my camera, and take a 10 minute exposure in the pitch dark. These images always intrigue me as I find it's something we can all relate to.
