Day 45: "it's always downhill to the lake".
... Unless you're not staying at the lake, then it's always uphill. After an amazing sunrise over the lake we left Chintheche Inn and started our 86km day to Mzuzu, a larger town inland and west from Lake Malawi. The town is situated outside the Great Rift Valley and required a sharp climb near the end to reach our overnight stop. The first 50 kilometres sailed past and we were excited about arriving at camp early and fresh. With just 30km to go the final "step"hit us, and we climbed over 1000 vertical meters in the last 30km. The temperature was well into the thirties, and the air was still and offered little relief in the form of a breeze to cool us down. We all rode well and at around 2:30pm arrived at Moozoozoozoo our basic but adequate camp for the evening. At the moment we have a few days in hand as we are slightly ahead of schedule so will ride 75km today and then planning a night or two in a national park whose name I can't at the moment remember.
